I got the update yesterday that after only 20 days of a 30 day campaign, I reached my kickstarter goal and will be funded to print my book. I’m beyond excited, but as the days wind down and I’m about to send my book to print, I realize that the more money I raise, the more books I can print. So the campaign is still going if anyone is interested in donating.

But making my goal is just one exciting part of the week. The other is that we go to print this Monday. So I’m spending everyday at my coveside studio working on the book. I explained writing the book like this to someone. Over the fall I built the foundation and framed the walls. Over the winter in India I plastered the walls and put in the appliances. Now I’m laying down the carpet and painting the rooms. And in the next few days, I’ll be moving in the furniture. Can’t wait for that.

This past Thursday while walking home from a friend’s house in West Philly, I received a text message from Erica, my partner at Philly Rooted, to go home and check out the front page of kickstarter. Low and behold, there was my project, proudly displayed underneath the publishing section as the project of the week. So it will make it easy for anyone to visit that site and contribute to the printing costs, should they be so inclined.

We’ve also taken the first steps towards putting together the book release party on April 29th at Studio 34 in West Philadelphia. If you enjoyed the video for the kickstarter, then I think you’ll be excited to know that Ms. Angela Miles and Mr. Carl Cheeseman will be lending their many talents to turning the main room of Studio 34 into a living interpretation of the book. Also, some friends from two really great Philly bands will be putting together a super group of all oldies tunes for the evening. Because of contractual reasons, I can’t divluge who these bands are, but let’s just say that the line up is going to be pretty extraordinary.

This has been a really exciting morning. I have taken the first steps towards putting out to the world the novel that I have been writing for the past six months, Seeds of Discent.
